Epstein Didn’t Kill Himself

What happens when meme meets politics?

Epstein didn’t kill himself. You’ve seen it before.

This meme went viral throughout the month of November in opposition to global leaders. Jeffery Epstein was a pedophile and sex offender that was involved in a huge sex trafficking ring, and was busted in July.

He then went to prison, where he proceeded to “kill himself” to escape the trail that awaited him. Millionaire Jeffery Epstein associated with many powerful men, including Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, Prince Andrew, etc.

Despite the first forensics scientist doing the autopsy claiming that the wounds on Epstein’s neck are due to him hanging himself, the second scientist to perform it strongly believes the wounds are due to strangulation.

In reality, nobody will ever know what really happened in that dark prison cell that was guarded by two sleeping guards, however, a recent survey producing that less than a third of Americans actually believe Epstein killed himself speaks for itself.

The viralization of this meme on all media platforms is nothing less than Americans taking a stand and agreeing that they do not trust the powers that currently control their world.

Baby Yoda

In a galaxy far, far, away is the cutest little creature I have ever seen. Just like everyone else I too am obsessed with Baby Yoda.

People who haven’t even seen the new Disney+ show, The Mandalorian are participating in the virilization of this creature, simply because of the fact that it is cute. All across Reddit, Instagram, Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, or whatever social networking site you can think of are memes centered around this lovable character.

In reality, nobody actually knows what Baby Yoda is, other than a lovable alien that naps and has frogs in its mouth. Baby Yoda’s character was created by Disney with the intention of being adorable and appealing to its audience, and clearly, having become one of the best memes of the year after only being around for a month, Disney had delivered.

As with all trends, Baby Yoda has not been able to escape being antagonized by cynics who sadly also have access to the internet. These cynics can be seen trying to drag down the trend by claiming they do not understand the appeal of the character, bashing Disney’s spin on star wars, and hating on the possibility of the trend being commodified via merchandise.

To that, all I can say is, this meme was created off of a loveable character whose primary purpose is to be cute, and cute he is. Sometimes, it’s okay to turn off your inner cynic and allow yourself to enjoy things.

Bad Luck Brian

Ever cut your bangs too short the week before picture day?

Maybe, pop the wrong zit? Or, sneeze at the exact moment the lense snaps your picture?

Sure, all of those are pretty bad but how about taking one so bad it gets you renamed as Bad Luck Brian?

This is precisely what happened to Kyle Craven in 2012, this classic meme first appeared on Reddit when friends of Craven posted the yearbook photo with the caption “Takes driving test…gets first DUI.”

This first post didn’t attract much attention initially, it wasn’t until other redditors began reposting the photos with their own captions that it began to accumulate a participating audience.

The meme then proceeded to trickle out and invade other social media platforms such as Instagram, Pinterest, Buzzfeed, Funny or Die,etc. with its ironic, adaptive, template to be repurposed into new content about Brian’s terrible luck.

The main purpose of this meme is to make jokes at the expense of the gawky, gangly, yet weirdly endearing boy smiling his heart out for his yearbook photo. Bad Luck Brian is the butt in the idiom, the butt of the joke.

He even looks the part. In the photo he’s wearing a powder blue button up with plaid sweater vest on top of it. The tacky, purple hazy backdrop radiating behind him compliments the humor of the photo perfectly. It completes its cheesiness.

But nothing is cheesier than his wide raspberry lips stretched out so far that his left eye is hardly left open. That smile alone speaks for Bad Luck Brian’s reputation and ranking as a classic meme. Unfortunately Kyle Craven will always be remembered as Bad Luck Brian.
